1. What is the aim of the presentation stage?

The first time I talked about the aim of the presentation stage was in entry 08. When I read this entry I realized that I had some basic information about this subject, but by reading what I wrote in these two parts mini-teaching reflection 06 & another paragraph in mini-teaching reflection 06 I realized how much I improved my knowledge about the aim of the presentation stage

2. What is the best role for the teacher at the presentation stage?

Although my information in entry 08 was correct about the teacher's roles in the presentation stage, I didn’t reflect deeply enough. In this part of my mini-teaching reflection 06 I came across the presentation stage with good information, but also not deeply enough. In another paragraph in mini-teaching reflection 06 I wrote about the teacher's roles in presentation stages which reflect how much I learned from this course.

3. How do you know that your presentation stage has been effective?

I think my mini-teaching reflection 06 reflected the understanding of this aspect.

4. What is the aim of the practice stage?

The part about practice stage’s aim in my entry 08 is correct, but showed my shallow information at that time. In the mini-teaching reflection 04 I briefly wrote about the same topic as well as in mini-teaching reflection 05, but this time with details and depth. I came across this topic in a small part of my mini-teaching reflection 06 and also another paragraph in mini-teaching reflection 06 with explanations. This sequence of improvement shows how well organized the course was.

5. What is the best role for the teacher at the practice stage?

I had a very well phrased (You said that) paragraph in entry 08 and also I gave information about the teachers' roles in mini-teaching reflection 04 as well as in mini-teaching reflection 05, but this time with details. There was some information in a small part in mini-teaching reflection 06. Also another paragraph in mini-teaching reflection 06 which dealt with the same topic but from another point of view. So from the whole thing I could tell that I knew about teachers' roles, but you helped me polishing this information.

6. How do you know that your practices stage has been effective?

I wrote in the mini-teaching reflection 04 briefly about the practice stage. This information didn’t satisfy me so I wrote again in a very deep way in mini-teaching reflection 05. The best one was in my mini-teaching reflection 06 which I concluded my understanding in few words.

7. What is the aim for production stage?

I had wrong information about the Production stage; to be honest I didn’t know what it meant.J This can be seen in my entry 08. During this course I corrected my information by virtue of your explanation. This correct information was reflected in my mini-teaching reflection 06 and in another paragraph in mini-teaching reflection 06.

8. What is the best role for the teacher at the production stage?

At the beginning I couldn’t tell what the teacher’s roles were in this stage which showed in the entry 08, but this was corrected in these two entries mini-teaching reflection 06 and another paragraph in mini-teaching reflection 06.

9. How do you know that your production stage has been effective?

This was explained in my mini-teaching reflection 06

10. What is the significance of PPP for the flow of our lesson?

I had written more than 600 words in my mini-teaching reflection 06 about the PPP flow in a lesson.

11. What is the difference between activities and exercise?

In mini-teaching reflection 04 I wrote about activities in general and to make it effective to our students. I explained the difference between activities and exercises in mini-teaching reflection 06 this part by giving examples of my HDD mini-teaching.

12. What factors are involved in what it means to know a word?

The factors which are involved in knowing words meanings are listed and explained in my mini-teaching reflection 06.

13. What is the significance of the superordinate and subordinate distinction in vocabulary?

I used my lesson’s subject ‘Pumps’ to distinguish super-ordinates and subordinates. This was in my ADMC’s mini-teaching and Navy’s lesson. In these two lessons I differentiated the word pump as a superordinate word where the three categories were subordinate terms. Then I talked about this significance in general and how it would be useful to our students. All this was in my mini-teaching reflection 07.

14. What are the main techniques we can use to explain the meaning of new words to students?

According to your comments, I had A nice description and list which answers this question in my mini-teaching reflection 06.

15. What does ‘active vocabulary’ refer to?

I wrote a 60-word paragraph which answers this question as well as question 16. This paragraph is in my mini-teaching reflection 06.

16. What does ‘passive vocabulary’ refer to?

See mini-teaching reflection 06

17. How are the terms active and passive vocabulary important to teacher?

This question was answered in this part of my mini-teaching reflection 06.

18. Why is recycling vocabulary important?

Recycling vocabulary is an important aspect so I talked about it in the mini-teaching reflection 06.

19. What strategies can we use to help students remember new words?

In the entry 03 I talked about the three types of recording words techniques. Then I talked about the lessons flexibility which must be according to the students’ level which you agreed with my point of view in my entry 04. Then I talked about another three methods to record new vocabulary in my entry 06, also I talked about miming the meaning of words in another part of entry 06. There was a part in my mini-teaching reflection 05 where I talked about helping and checking students’ understanding the meanings of new words and terms which were introduced in the lessons. Also see my mini-teaching reflection 06 where I wrote about teaching new words.

20. What teacher role would you like to practice most before the end of semester? Why?

At the beginning of the course we had this argument about teacher’s roles in my entry 02 where I said, “Every single part of it” and you agreed with me with some reservations. I had a good list and descriptions of teachers’ roles in my mini-teaching reflection 04 where you agreed with and said, “Reads like a guide to teacher roles.” In another part in mini-teaching reflection 04 I shifted to teacher’s roles one more time. Finally, I went back to our old issue which was “Every single part of it” and described the whole roles which I improved in and practiced them during this beneficial semester in my mini-teaching reflection 07.

Really by reading my journals I realized how much I learned and improved myself in different areas. This improvement will reflect on my future career as a teacher. The only thing I would like to add in this final journal is to thank you for your effort and help during this semester.

Your student,
Khaled A. Majid

Thank you Khaled.

It has been an absolute pleasure reading both your final journal and the preparation journal submitted to Ruth.

My pride at having seen your progress is matched by my appreciation of the work you have done this semester.

You are the first student in my teaching career who has received 100% for the complete course. CONGRATULATIONS.

Of course, my expectations for next semester are incredibly high

Thanks
Phil

Dear Phil,
I hope you’re enjoying this weekend as I do. I’m writing this e-mail to thank you for your support throughout the whole course as well as my final result. The 100% really means a lot to me especially after what you said about being the first student in your career who has this grade. Make sure that my work will be incredibly higher than your expectations in the coming semesters. You can’t imagine how much this result overpowered me to build my abilities trusting ‘self-trust’. (discussed in the 1st & 2nd journals)

Thank you so much.

Yours,
Khaled Majid

Fully deserved :)
