Best regards, Khaled Al Obaidli News - Latest Fri, 05 Oct 2007 20:10:54 +0100 Thank You ADMC http://www.dody99.com/home/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=41 This article is about my experience on WebCT as a designer. I’m doing a Diploma in Professional Training course at ADMC. One of the subjects on the course is ‘Teaching and Learning Technology’ which requires the students to design their own WebCT course. WebCT is a powerful e-learning tool which can be used to produce interactive online based courses. My role on this course is the editor. There are many requirements to fulfil this role such as to provide my colleagues with solutions to the difficulties encountered during their work, to keep the discussions moving on the ‘discussion board’ by starting a new posting area every week and to keep the WebCT calendar up-to-date by entering the course-related events. At the beginning of this course I thought that learning and designing the WebCT course was going to be an easy and simple task, but when the project started I realized that I had to develop myself in many areas in order to keep up with the course requirements. So, I had to learn a number of software programs such as MS Front Page, Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Respondus, and Paint Shop Pro. This was because these programs are required to create attractive interactive materials for WebCT. I started learning independently by trying the software out and searching the Internet and the library for some guidelines to help my learning process. ADMC, represented by my teachers Phil and Hedley, provided me with the WebCT learning platform to improve my skills and to polish them. They also guided me along the correct path I have to go through in order to improve myself as a future teacher. This was achieved by the roles our teachers performed which are guiders, facilitators, learning environment providers, knowledge directors and editors. These roles helped me to be an independent type of student. In this course, we also learned to create our PPDP (Personal Professional Development Plan) and this has helped me a lot during this course and it will be useful throughout my future career. Moreover, the best part on this course is that we, the students, have the right to make suggestions and express our opinions to improve our WebCT course. In conclusion, what I have truly learned here is to be an independent learner. Clearly, also I learned software as noticed above and the use of the PPDP to focus on my career. My Writings - Khaled Al Obaidli Sat, 06 Oct 2007 18:04:17 +0100 How to Devise an Assignment or Project http://www.dody99.com/home/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=41 “Assignments and Projects” are important aspects which are used by the teachers to improve their students’ learning style. Most teachers face difficulties while devising assignments or projects for their students. Nevertheless, it is very easy to make a good assignment or project if you follow the basic steps. First, search for a related topic which interests your students. Then, give the students roles to perform throughout the activities. This will offer a wide range of opportunities for the students to practise their skills. After that, vary your activities so the students will enjoy doing them. This will ensure that the students will be involved actively in their activities. Furthermore, define your activities and set achievable targets and goals. Finally, provide the students with help when they need it. To conclude, preparing assignments or projects is almost a job itself! However, following these simple steps will ensure that you definitely provide your students with active ones.(Word counts 166) My Writings - Khaled Al Obaidli Sat, 06 Oct 2007 18:14:59 +0100
